GroundFX specialises in designing and constructing large-scale outdoor living environments across Mangawhai and surrounding coastal areas. We combine structural landscaping, architectural concrete, bespoke steel fabrication and natural rock placement to deliver outdoor spaces that are both functional and visually striking.
Unlike traditional landscaping companies, we focus on full property transformations. Every project is personally overseen to ensure craftsmanship, durability and attention to detail from concept through to completion.

Completing the dream
Local bluestone creates a long-lasting and maintenance free flax bed, and gives the stone landing a floating feel. Once the flax is established it will also provide some natural privacy for the outdoor shower.

Ground works
A backyard that was once an overgrown slope was terraced into three defined areas - an adults fire pit above, childern’s play area below, and large lawn in the middle to connect the two. Gabion rock retaining as featured throughout the property was softened with a selection of grasses and flaxes

Retaining
Custom gabion retaining wall with planter boarder forms a new lawn area and leads to to the rear of the property. Ultra wide stairs paired with a ramp to run the mower up and down.

A space to connect
A floating hardwood bench sits above railroad sleeper edging, and a Firth paver mow strip, which allows easy care for the ready lawn we laid. The reverse fixed timber screens offer instant privacy from the utility area beyond

Custom gate way
Not wanting to cut off the batch from the outside world, but also not have eager to have guests drive all over the freshly laid lawn, we built a custom hardwood gate and colour matched to the Coloursteel fence we utilised to separation from the neighbours.. Short timber bollards sit within corten edged gardens clearly defining the front boundary
